The Battle of Yorktown
The Battle of Yorktown took place on October 19th, 1781. It was the last major land battle of the Revolutionary War. The battle was the culmination of the Yorktown campaign and ended with general Cornwallis and his army surrendering. This lead to British negotiating an end to the conflict after America captured over 7,000 British troops. This resulted in The Treaty of Paris in 1783 which effectively ended the war. The treaty was signed on September 3rd, 1783 and the war was finally over with the colonies coming out on top.
