The Declaration of Independence
The Declaration was adopted by Congress on July 4th, 1776 and used to declare Independence from British rule. It was signed by 56 delagates between August 2nd, 1776 and January 22nd,1777. It stated that Americans deserve to be able to be free and have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. This lead to the independent states eventually creating a Constitution and becoming the United States of America. Leading to George Washington, the war hero to become the first U.S. president.
